Please note: this volunteering is with an external community organisation that UOWx has a partnership with. Please contact uowx@uow.edu.au once you have been accepted into this role and UOWx will add you to the Moodle site so you can commence claiming your hours. 

What will I do?

Healthy Cities Illawarra provides multiple programs in nutrition and food security, physical activity, emotional wellbeing and we work collaboratively with partners from local government, Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, other non-government organisations and the corporate sector.

As the Healthy Cities Illawarra Health Promotion Assistant you will assist with program preparation, event preparation in community based health promotion projects. This could also include administrative duties such as meeting minutes, or contribute to program evaluation (eg: data collection, data entry). The role could include small group facilitation, preparing and/or delivering presentations.

Are there any special requirements for this role?

Some projects may require a current Volunteer Working with Children Check. Some projects may require some travel throughout the Illawarra. These special requirements can be discussed throughout the application process.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To recieve UOWx recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An 'engaged' student will need to be complete 20 hours over a calendar year
  • A 'highly engaged' student will need to complete 40 hours over a calendar year
