50 years of UOW

Originally established to provide tertiary education to support the region’s steel industry, the University has since developed into an internationally-recognised teaching and research institution ranked among the top one per cent of universities in the world.

Over five decades, UOW has built a strong reputation for creating a positive impact in our local and global communities. From our first campus on the lands of Five Islands Dreaming, nestled at the foot of Mt Djeera (Keira), we have expanded to nine Australian and four international campuses.

The 50th anniversary will provide an opportunity for alumni, donors and friends to engage more deeply with UOW, change lives and push boundaries.
