Couch Conversations Participant

Activity overview

How is this program run?

This program is running online and in-person options.

What will I do?

Couch Conversations is an informal, fun and inclusive chat via Zoom. Whatever your motivation, whether it's to share experiences, develop cross-cultural friendships, practice conversational English or hear about tips and tricks for work, study and play - everyone is welcome!

You are welcome to register and join any session that suits your schedule - whether it's one session, or many - it's your choice. Couch Conversations will be running until the end November, check out our website for the latest information and updates.

Participants attend Couch Conversations on a voluntary basis. This program exists as a platform for students to create connections (with other students and their UOW community) through casual conversations between staff and all students. You actively contribute to conversations, both directed by the Facilitator as well as sharing and exploring your own experiences, tips, ideas, or questions.

How will I benefit?

Couch Conversations are a great way to stay connected with your UOW community while building your personal and professional skills.

In a remote environment, Couch Conversations exists as a welcoming space - with a student and community focus towards making sure you've got the support you want. From finding out about upcoming events, to the resources and services available to you remotely to support your wellbeing and studies, and even sharing or gaining those UOW tips and tricks from other students, there is endless opportunities to gain and impart knowledge.

Develop effective communication skills while building your network within your UOW community - whether it is to practice your conversational English or enhance your cross-cultural communication skills, you'll always have the opportunity to be connected.

Increase your global & cultural awareness by engaging in a cross-cultural setting that allows you to both share and learn about unique experiences from around the world. Couch Conversations fosters a Global Citizenship ethos and enables growing mindsets through cultural exchange, celebrating diversity, and supporting personal and professional growth.

Regardless of whether you are a domestic or international student, Couch conversations has a host of benefits for everyone involved.
