Our programs connect student with people from all over the world offering opportunities to make new friends, develop skills and link to the local community.

Connect with the UOW International Student Community

UOW English conversation groups are run by senior students in partnership with Illawarra Friends of International Students (IFIS) and are a great way to make friends and practice your English in a warm and welcoming environment.  

Groups run on the Wollongong campus in the Student Success Hub, Ground Floor, Building 19.

Cooking and connection classes are run by senior students in partnership with Illawarra Friends of International Students (IFIS). Cooking classes help you to transition to living independently in Australia and are a great way to make friends. 

Cooking classes this session from 4 pm - 7 pm on the following dates:

  • Thursday, 28 March
  • Wednesday, 24 April
  • Wednesday, 26 June

Welcome to Wollongong is a an event held by the University of Wollongong and Wollongong City Council to welcome you to studying and living in Wollongong. You will enjoy an Australian BBQ, participate in cultural education and enjoy meeting students and members of the broader UOW community. 

Beach and water safety is incredibly important to know when living by the beach in Wollongong, or in any coastal area.

UOW offers swimming lessons and beach and inland water ways programs for international students.
