Research

Our research

Research and scholarship underpin the curriculum and feed the School’s general environment and ethos. Our School contributes considerable research strengths to philosophical activity in the Faculty of the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, for which the University of Wollongong received a 4-rating (placing its philosophy research ‘above world class’) for Excellence Research Australia exercises in 2015 and 2018.

The inaugural Head of School for the School of Liberal Arts has a longstanding commitment to, and experience in, ensuring productive synergies exist between teaching and research. He brings a wealth of research-relevant experience to bear in overseeing these aspects of the proposed course and teaching culture, having served as member of the College of Experts for the Australian Research Council and as Associate Dean of Research for the Faculty.

Honours and Higher Degree Research study

Both forms of study afford opportunities to become part of a research community, benefiting from the close supervision and feedback of experts in the School of Liberal Arts and the wider academic community.
