Funding opportunities

Secure your share today

The Federal and State Governments offer several funding programs to support collaborative research between the University and industry. UOW has a proven track record of efficiently securing government grants with industry partners. The Innovation and Commercial Research Unit can provide expert advice on funding options, application processes and expected timelines. The table below outlines some of the funding sources that we have found to be most effective for collaborative research.

The objective of the panels is for the housing and commercial building sector. It utilises a recycled product in manufacture so a very low carbon footprint. We have a lot of other aspects of the business to fulfil, so taking time away for research, can’t be done. With the assistance of the grant, and the collaboration with the University of Wollongong, a lot of that hard work is taken away as they become your researchers. I have found them to be an amazing group to work with.

The commercialisation grant, the first component is up to $50,000 and they will match it dollar-for-dollar, so you can spend a project of $100,000, and $50,000 can be matched by the government, and then you can actually take up a second component of the same value.

We are looking to have a product for sale in the not too distant future. Had we not had the collaboration or the grant, the product may not have gotten off the ground.

Funding opportunities from government*

*Government programs change name and requirements from time to time. Please refer to linked sites for current program details. Summary details in the table were checked for accuracy in April 2023.

^ The amount in the table is the matched amount. For example for Tech Vouchers, NSW Treasury with provide up to $25,000 for eligible projects. This means that if the project value is $50,000, NSW Treasury will contribute $25,000 of the project cost and the industry partner will also contribute $25,000 for their project (plus GST). Industry partners are generally invoiced 50% upfront and 50% on final completion.
