Overview

Want to use data to solve real business problems? This degree helps you understand how organisations work, then use analytics to improve decisions, performance, and strategy.

At UOW, business analytics is not just about coding or crunching numbers. You’ll combine data analysis with business knowledge, communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management, so you can translate insights into action.

You’ll build strong foundations in business before developing skills in analytics tools, business intelligence, data visualisation, AI-enabled decision-making, and emerging technologies. The curriculum is regularly updated to reflect changing industry needs, helping you stay adaptable in a fast-moving field.

Graduates can pursue careers in business analytics, business intelligence, customer insights, digital transformation, operations, supply chain, risk, consulting, and process improvement.

The Bachelor of Business Analytics is a discovery degree, giving you the freedom to explore your interests before shaping a study path that aligns with your goals. You can you can build expertise in your chosen major within this degree, whilst having the flexibility to broaden your studies or specialise further through a second major, a minor, or elective subjects.

See the course handbook for more information.

Business analytics is evolving rapidly as organisations adopt AI, automation and data-driven decision-making. At UOW, you'll learn how to interpret data, apply business judgement and turn insights into action.

You'll explore how analytics is applied across areas such as customer experience, operations, supply chains, risk and strategy. This broader business focus helps you understand the systems behind the data, not just the data itself.

While technology continues to transform how organisations work, effective decisions still rely on people. You'll learn how to combine data insights with critical thinking, business understanding and professional judgement.

Through industry-informed projects, case studies, guest speakers and networking opportunities, you'll gain insight into how organisations use analytics to solve problems, improve performance, and respond to change.

You'll learn from research-active academics with strong industry connections and expertise in analytics, operations research, supply chain optimisation and business decision-making. Faculty contribute to industry-focused research, including through UOW's Centre for Supply Chain Research, helping ensure your learning remains connected to current business challenges.

In your final year, you'll apply your learning to a real or industry-inspired business challenge through a capstone project. You can also build professional experience and industry connections through a competitive internship program.

After completing the Bachelor of Business Analytics, you may be eligible for up to four subjects' credit towards a postgraduate business master's degree, allowing you to complete both a bachelor's and master's qualification in as little as four years.

The School of Business is a signatory to the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME), a global initiative of the United Nations, equipping you to make ethical business decisions throughout your career.
