Permit parking

Virtual permits are coming to UOW

UOW is implementing an online parking permit management system (vPermit).  vPermit will be available on the Wollongong campus, Innovation campus and at some student accommodation residences.

vPermit allows UOW staff, eligible students, and other user groups to apply for and manage parking permits online (eligibility conditions apply).

The system replaces physical paper and sticker permits, and paper based application forms.  No physical parking permits will be issued.

The vPermit system uses license plate (vehicle registration plate) recognition. vPermit gives users flexibility to switch between license plate numbers depending which car they are driving to campus that day. It is your responsibility to ensure the vehicle registration you have selected as Active in vPermit matches the vehicle you are driving to campus that day for your permit to be valid.

It is expected that vPermit will be active from the end of February 2023.  Please check back on this page for further information in the coming weeks.

Current permit parking options

Please note UOW is implementing Smart Parking Systems including vPermits.  The permits listed below are existing sticker permits and these will be changing after late February 2023.

UOW entry (blue) permit parking

UOW entry permits are available for staff, but spaces are not guaranteed.  Entry permit parking is available in P2, P3, P4, P5, and P8 in designated bays.

Permits may be purchased through salary deductions or paid upfront. A new permit is required each year.

For salary sacrifice applications, complete the form (Wollongong or Innovation Campus) and take it to the staff counter at Student Central to collect your permit.

If you are paying upfront for your permit, please complete the application form and take it to the Unishop to collect your permit.

The University’s Access and Order Rules are strictly applied and penalties apply. UOW Entry Permits must be displayed on the windscreen and are only valid within signposted UOW permit bays. Incorrect placement may incur a fine if Parking Enforcement Officers cannot check the validity of a permit.

During Graduation from 1-3 November 2022, parking in P5 and P4 carpooling will be restricted for special event parking and only available to graduation attendees.

Please seek alternative parking during this period.  UOW permit holders can access parking in designated permit areas of P2, P3, P4, and P8.  Ticket parking will remain available in P1, P3, P4, P6 and P8.  Parking will be in high demand and there will be additional traffic on and around the campus.  Please allow extra time for your journey.

UOW reserved permit parking

A limited number of designated reserved parking bays are available on campus for staff or departmental vehicles. Information on the application process for reserved permits is available on the UOW Intranet.  Only authorised reserved permit holders can park in designated reserved bays. The University’s Access and Order Rules are strictly applied and penalties apply. Reserved Permit holders are only entitled to park within their designated bay using their permit.  Fees apply for parking in other ticket bays and the Short-term Parking Station. Penalties apply for improper use of permits.  Reserved permit holders must display the permit on the driver’s side of the windscreen. Permits must not be placed behind tinted areas. Incorrect placement may incur a fine if Parking Enforcement Officers cannot check the validity of a permit.

Motorcycle parking

Designated motorcycle parking bays are available in P1, P2, P3, and P5.  You can also use the parking stations at normal ticket prices. Staff and students are able to purchase yearly permits. Take the application form (PDF) to the Unishop. Both P1 and P3 carparks offer undercover motorcycle parking.

Permits must be displayed on the motorcycle. Incorrect placement may incur a fine if Parking Enforcement Officers cannot check the validity of a permit.  Spaces are not guaranteed, and permits cannot be transferred or sold to another person. Motorcycle parking conditions apply 8:30am – 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.  Penalties apply for improper use of these bays.
