It's go time at UOW. We're looking forward to welcoming you to UOW in 2023. To celebrate, we've curated a series of weeklong events to give you all the information, connections and fun needed to make your time at UOW the very best it can be. Whether you're just starting at UOW or you're back for another year, we've got all of the tips and tricks you need to nail enrolment and go to guide for campus and student living, making new friends, and securing your future for after you graduate.

Uni101, everything you need to know

Got questions about your course, subjects, timetables or enrolment? Get Started is for you!

Your Get Started checklist

  1. Enrol in your course and subjects
  2. Register to attend a Get Started event and have all your questions answered.
  3. Register for your orientation day and receive key info about your course, faculty, and all things uni.
  4. Create a timetable and enrol in tutorials (or classes)
  5. Organise your student ID card
  6. Get familiar with support services for when you need them

Your Respect checklist

  1. Complete the compulsory Consent Matters Module.
  2. Find out what SARC is and where to find them.
  3. Be an ally for Australia's First Nations peoples by taking part in free cultural awareness training.
  4. Know your rights at work and in general in Australia.

  1. Check you have completed all three compulsory modules
  2. Do the Get Started Snapshot tool
  3. Find out your digital strengths and identify learning goals through the Digital Skills Hub
  4. Check out the Learning Co-op for tools, resources and support designed to help you succeed and support your learning

  1. Learn about Census date and what it means for you.
  2. Join a UOWx activity
  3. Visit the careers expo or chat to the careers team.
  4. Get inspo from Alumni who graduated from your faculty.
  5. Book an academic consultation to help you choose your major or minor (if your course requires one).

A world of opportunities for international students

Welcome to UOW, and (for many of you) to Australia! It's Go Time is packed full of events, workshops and resources to help international students make friends, settle into classes and adjust to life in a new country.

  1. Register for the Welcome to Wollongong event on 21 February. 
  2. Get to know the resources and support available to help you succeed and thrive.
  3. Join an English language conversation group like Couch Conversations or the UOW Language Hangout.
  4. Complete the International Student Success Course.
