How is this program run?

This program is running both face-to-face and online.


What will I do?

As a native speaker of the languages we offer at UOW, you will meet with language learners at least once a week and practice bilingual speaking.

Native speaker volunteers are required to

  • Facilitate conversation,
  • Promote the program,
  • Organise how the sessions will run, and
  • Coordinate social cultural activities

How will I benefit?

You will meet new people and make new friends, as well as gain skills in:

  • Intercultural awareness
  • Leadership
  • Problem solving
  • Mentoring

Are there any special requirements for this role?

You must be a native or fluent speaker of the language you are volunteering for.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx Recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to complete a minimum 16 hours in a calendar year
  • A "highly engaged" student will need to complete 20 hours in a calendar year
