The Illawarra Institute for Mental Health (iiMH) is a research unit in the School of Psychology and the Faculty of the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Wollongong. It provides a centre for researchers and teachers with an interest in mental health and drug and alcohol related research.
The iiMH has close research and training linkages with a wide range of mental health and drug and alcohol service providers. Since 1989 the University of Wollongong and the local area health service have collaborated in the provision of mental health and drug and alcohol education and training. The iiMH was established in 1998 and the degree of collaboration between the partners has increased significantly with a greater emphasis on the use of research to inform training and service development.
With its rich and dynamic mix of researchers and clinicians from academic and applied service settings, the emphasis is on clinically relevant applied research.
