Postgraduate Internship Program

BUS902 involves a 10 day placement program over 2 weeks (this may be varied to 3 days per week over three weeks,) where you will be matched with a pre-selected Industry. Your host organisation will provide you with tasks where you will gain valuable insight within that industry.

Your placement will include working on or developing a program or process to complement that organisation with a focus to adding value, to assist and optimise current organisational practice.

At the end of the placement you will then present the host organisation with a report and/or presentation.

Key information for students

Students who are enrolled in:

Post Graduate studies, having completed core subjects in either Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality Project Management or HR

  • WAM of 65
  • Demonstration of good reflective, critical analytical thinking and essay/ report writing skills
  • Have access to reliable transport
  • Able to commit to the normal terms of engagement for the selected industry for the period of placement
  • You are required to attend compulsory workshops/lectures/tutorials and complete a combination of individual and/or group assessments during the trimester as part of the program.

There are 3 steps to the application process;

Step 1:
If you meet the subject pre-requisites, you will be required to submit an application including a cover letter, resume, copy of your enrolment record and apply via the online application form.

Under the FORMS Tab in SONIA you will see an application form specific to the session you are applying. Use the EDIT button to open and complete.

Step 2:
If successful in getting through the first stage, you will be required to attend a video interview with the subject co-ordinator.

Students will be shortlisted for interviews based on performance in steps 1 & 2.

Step 3:
Students selected based on their application and interview performance.

BUS902 subject information

BUS902 supports the 9 day internship placement program where you will be matched with a pre-selected Industry Partner arranged by the Business Internship team. Your host organisation will discuss with the subject co-ordinator tasks where you will gain valuable industry related experience to become ‘work-ready’. The application process will prepare you for post-graduation, making your application for post graduation opportunities more competitive by experiencing real world industry activities and challenges.

You are required to attend compulsory workshops/lectures/tutorials and complete a combination of individual and group assessments during the trimester as part of the program.

a. Students are required to complete the practical component (a minimum of 9 days) during the trimester, usually in weeks 6, 7 and 8.

b. Complete the performance evaluation and reflective activities by completion of the trimester

c. Maintain a diary of events with examples and relevant reading of academic journals.

b. 2 individual in-class assessments

c. Final assessment requires cross disciplinary research and critical analysis of internship placement experience  (including a 5 minute presentation).

Draft subject outline and access to Moodle site will be given to students before the session commences.
