Motorcycle parking

Motorcycle parking

There are designated motorcycle parking bays across the campuses and at UOW student residences.

Motorcycles can only park in designated motorcycle bays and not in car spaces. Motorcycle parking conditions apply 8:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) technology is used to confirm that a vehicle has a valid parking session or permit. It is critical that you enter your number plate correctly into the CellOPark app. If your vehicle registration number is incorrect, it will not be recognised and you may be issued a parking fine.

Paying for motorcycle parking

There are two types of payment options for motorcycles:

  • Motorcycle vPermit
  • Casually, using the CellOPark app.

Both options are available to students, staff, contractors, and tenants. vPermits are issued virtually via the vPermit portal – no physical paper or sticker permits are issued.

With the CellOPark app, you only pay for what you use, and start and stop your parking session in the app.

Payment Method Price
Motorcycle vPermit $63 per year
Casual parking via CellOPark app $0.11 per hour, maximum per day $0.84

Note: you will need to know your vehicle licence plate number to apply for a permit, and you will need to log in to vPermit and update this if you change the vehicle parked.

  1. Access vPermit via www.vpermit.com.au/uow
  2. If you are a UOW staff or student, log in using your UOW account details. Please ensure you click the blue button 'Log in with your UOW Account’.
  3. On the ‘My Permits’ tab, click ‘Apply for a vPermit’.
  4. Select the 'Motorcycle permit (credit card)' permit from the pre-filled dropdown menu (only the permits you are eligible for will appear).
  5. Enter your vehicle licence plate number/s. You can enter up to two, however only one can be active at any time.
  6. Click ‘Next’
  7. Review the information, and then click ‘Register’.
  8. If you are paying via credit card, provide the requested information and complete payment.
  9. Confirm that your permit is active by checking the ‘My Permits’ tab.  The status needs to say "Active".

In some carparks, you can use the CellOPark app to pay for your parking.  You will need to select the motorcycle parking zone (zone number 2522800) within the CellOPark app.

Within the CellOPark app, to select the motorcycle zone:

  • press the 'Scan QR' button in the app and scan the QR code located on signs (in some carparks), or
  • select University of Wollongong from the drop down menu, or
  • enter the seven digit zone number (2522800).

You can have up to two vehicles registered on your account, but you need to ensure you have selected the 'active' vehicle when parking.

Press 'press to start' when you are ready to start your parking session.

When you have finished your parking session, you need to press 'press to stop'.  With CellOPark, you only pay for what you use, as long as you stop your session as you leave.

If you need assistance with the CellOPark app please visit cellopark.com.au or call 02 8599 9747.

There are also motorcycle parking options near student residences. Please speak to your residence admin team for assistance if required.

For additional information and maps, please refer to the interactive campus map or parking map (PDF).

For motorcycle parking at the Innovation Campus, there are spaces located in the P1, P5, P7 and P8 Carparks.

Are you driving both a car and a motorcycle?

Under the vPermit system you are only able to have one permit at any time, and only one vehicle registration (license plate) number set as "active".

Eligible staff are able to purchase a UOW Entry Permit which allows parking for cars in UOW Entry Permit spaces in P2, P3, P4, P5 and P8 carparks. If you have one of these permits, you can add your motorcycle registration (license) plate numbers as one of your listed vehicles. When parking your car, you must use one of these car parking spaces and have the car registration number set as "active" on your vPermit.  When riding your motorcycle, you would need to have your motorcycle as the active vehicle and park only in a motorcycle space.

Alternatively, you could have a permit for one of your vehicles and use CellOPark to pay for casual parking for the other. Please ensure you read signs and park in correct areas.
