Accept your offer

Congratulations on your offer to UOW

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study with UOW. There are a few steps you need to take to accept your offer and secure your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). Please see below information on how to understand your offer and next steps to accept your offer to kick start your journey at UOW.

Understanding Your Offer

This section will help you understand the important information in your Offer of Admission. Please check the details in your offer letter carefully. If you have any questions , contact UOW Future Students

Your 7-digit UOW Student Number is shown at the top of your offer letter. You will need this number throughout your time at UOW. It is your unique identification number for enquiries with the Future Students team, and when you enrol and become a current student.

Please save this number and include it in all communications with UOW.

Course

The course is the qualification you will receive if you successfully complete all requirements. Full details, including course structure and subject information are available in the Course Handbook.

If you have a packaged offer, each course will appear as a separate component in your offer letter. The course name is shown at the top of each section.

If you receive more than one offer for the same course, the most recent offer replaces any previous offers.

Major

This will be listed if you have been admitted to a specific major within your course.

Campus

This is the campus location where you will study.

Credit Points/Course Credit Points

This applies to University course offers. It shows the total number of credit points required to complete your course.

Courses at UOW are structured using credit points. Most subjects are worth 6 or 8 credit points. As a guide, a 6 credit point subject requires around 12 hours of study per week, including classes and independent study.

Mode of Delivery or Mode of Study

This indicates how your course is taught. Most courses are delivered on campus, which means you are expected to study full-time at your designated campus. A small number of courses are offered through distance or flexible delivery.

Duration

This is the expected time to complete your course, based on following the recommended study plan and meeting all course progression requirements.

CRICOS Code

This is the course registration number listed on the Australian Government’s Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

Dates/Start and End Dates

These include your orientation, enrolment, the course start date (first day of classes), and course end date.

You should arrive at least the weekend before orientation to complete enrolment and attend all required sessions.

If you arrive after orientation, you may not be able to enrol in your preferred subjects and your accommodation may not be held.

For most courses, enrolment is not permitted more than two weeks after the session start date. For English courses and Sydney Business School courses, enrolment closes after the first week. Visit UOW Key Dates for further details.

Conditions of Admission

Your offer may include conditions, such as:

  • meeting UOW’s English language requirements
  • completing your current studies
  • providing additional documents

These conditions must be met before you can accept your offer. Refer to your Offer Letter for instructions on how to clear your conditions. If you have a packaged offer, you must complete each course before progressing to the next. This requirement will be listed as a condition on your offer.

A packaged offer includes two or more courses that are taken in sequence. For example:

  • an English course and a principal academic program
  • two academic programs (such as Foundation Studies and a Bachelor degree)
  • an English course and multiple academic programs

Each course in your package will be listed separately in your Offer of Admission, for example:

Part 1: UOW College English course

Part 2: UOW College Foundation Studies course

Part 3: UOW Bachelor degree

If you are required to complete one course before progressing to the next, this will be listed as a condition on the subsequent course.

If your package includes an English course and an academic program, you may choose not to accept the English course if you can provide evidence that you meet the English language requirements for the academic program. You must meet this requirement before you accepting the academic course offer.

You will receive  a separate Acceptance Agreement for each course in your package. All relevant agreements must be completed and returned to accept your offer.

Last date to accept your offer

To allow plenty of time for you to apply for your student visa, we recommend accepting your offer as early as possible. The last date to accept your offer depends on whether you need to apply for a student visa before arriving to study in Australia.

Offshore students: 8 weeks before your Course Start Date
Onshore students: 2 weeks before your Course Start Date

You can find your Course Start Date in your Offer of Admission.

Defer your offer

Your application to defer may be reassessed against current admissions assessment criteria and Genuine Student (GS) assessment criteria. If your request is approved, a new offer will be issued.

Your UOW course fees will be calculated when your offer is issued. If you choose to defer your course admission to a later intake, you may be subject to any fee adjustments that occur during the deferral period (this may include scholarships and bursaries). This means you would need to pay any difference in fees before receiving a new CoE and proceeding with your studies.

Delaying your course start date may affect your student visa. Contact the Department of Home Affairs for visa condition enquiries.

Please note: Length/duration of deferral depends on course availability. Higher Degree Research offers can only be deferred for one session.
