SSVF & GS screening

Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) & Genuine Student (GS) screening

Under Australia's Department of Home Affairs' Simplified Student Visa Framework, prospective students need to satisfy the Genuine Student (GS) requirement as part of the student visa application process.

This means that students applying for admission to the University of Wollongong (UOW) and UOW College Australia (UOWCA) may be required to undergo a GS assessment in addition to meeting UOW's academic and English language requirements.

Prospective students who are required to undergo GS assessment must provide a completed Genuine Student (GS) Screening form (including all supporting documentation outlined in this form) with their application for admission.  UOW (including any third party contractor engaged by UOW or its subsidiaries as part of the assessment process) will assess and verify the information contained in this form and any supporting documentation as part of the application process.

Who needs to complete GS assessment?

Prospective students from the following citizenships:

  • India
  • Nepal
  • Bangladesh
  • Pakistan
  • Lebanon
  • Mongolia
  • Nigeria
  • Myanmar
  • Kenya
  • Uganda
  • Sri Lanka
  • Vietnam

  • Other countries deemed a risk level 3 by the Department of Home Affairs

Please note that a GS assessment or additional documentation can be requested from a student at any time.

What information needs to be provided?

The Genuine Student information provided will be used in the administration of the student’s application, but may also be accessed and used by UOW subsidiaries (including any third party contractor engaged by UOW or its subsidiaries) as part of the assessment process and by the Education Agent who has assisted with the form.
