WHO Collaborating Centre on Health Promotion Logo

The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) designates collaborating Centres to carry out activities supporting the organisation’s programs.

As a designated Collaborating Centre of the WHO, we support the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs to improve food environments, dietary and physical activity behaviours among children and adolescents.

We conduct collaborative research under WHO's leadership on children’s nutrition and physical activity, to support the implementation of evidence-based policies and programs in line with WHO recommendations and requests.

Action areas

We will provide support for disseminating and implementing the Regional Action Framework on Protecting Children from the Harmful Impact of Food Marketing in the Western Pacific. This training guide is being developed by the WHO Collaborating Centre on Children’s Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity, together with the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office to provide technical guidance for Member States to achieve the objectives set out in the Regional Action Framework on Protecting Children from the Harmful Impact of Food Marketing in the Western Pacific.

The guide is under development and will be available for use later in 2023.

Provide technical support for the implementation of relevant WHO Guidelines, WHO Standards and related Action Plans for healthy eating and physical activity among children in the Western Pacific.

Provide support to countries to develop evidence-based food labelling policies, aligned with WHO Guidelines, guiding principles and the framework manual for front-of-pack labelling for promoting a healthy diet.

Support WHO in generating regional evidence on children’s dietary and physical activity behaviours.
