Applying for a global online program is the same as applying for a global short course program. Just follow these two simple steps:

  1. Apply directly to the provider of your virtual program
  2. Submit our online short course application to apply for credit approval
  • Global online learning programs are open to all students, both domestic and international. However, some programs may have their own additional eligibility criteria. Please refer to your preferred program to see any further requirements.
  • New colombo plan grants are only on offer to Domestic UOW students, not available for UOW International students. 

Can I receive credit?

Most global learning online programs are designed for credit in the same way global short course programs are. You can seek credit approval from your faculty via our online short course application.

Please note: Credit approval is at the sole discretion of your faculty.

Is funding available?

While OS Help Loans are not available for any global learning online programs, some program providers are offering scholarship opportunities. Please refer to the specific program summaries for further details below. For further information about funding options, please contact the Office of Global Student Mobility.

 Students must meet all funding criteria in order to qualify for funding, included but not limited to the following:

  • You must be an active UOW student
  • You must be an Australian citizen (or permanent resident for Endeavour Leadership Program funding)
  • You must submit an application to their faculty to receive credit for the program.

When can I participate?

There are a range of programs available to students at any given time. However, each program varies in duration and date. In this way, you are able to choose a program that best suits your schedule.

Program: Virtual International Internships with CRCC Asia
Provider: CRCC Asia
About: Virtual international internships provide the unique opportunity to participate in real working environments from the comfort of your own home. You’ll be fully supervised and supported as you gain industry knowledge from within your chosen career field, after which you’ll be able to add the host company to your resume as you would with any other internship.

Program: AGU Japanese Culture Box - FREE IMMERSION PROGRAM
Provider: 
Aoyama Gakuin University 
About: 
Aoyama Gakuin University have created a program that visualizes an overview of some of the Japanese culture-related subjects that can be studied in English. In addition, an introduction into the unique culture of Japan. In participating in this program, you will deepen your interest in Japan, Japanese culture, as well as offering you an opportunity to consider studying abroad at AGU one day.

Program: KGU Winter School 2022 Japan Studies Program
Provider: Kwansei Gakuin University
About: This three-week program is designed for students who wish to study about “Cool Japan”, which includes contemporary Japanese culture and products such as animation, manga, games, Japanese traditional cuisines and commodities. Through lessons taught entirely in English, you will learn about Japan’s cultural and creative industries that shape “Cool Japan” from a business studies and social sciences perspective, while classes on Japanese pop culture will examine the history and characteristics of manga and anime.

Program: Sophia Online January Session 2022 
Provider: Sophia University
About: In 2022, the January Session will be hosted entirely online, with all courses conducted live or with a mix of real-time and on-demand classes to maximize both interaction with lecturers and fellow students and flexible delivery across different time zones. By participating in scheduled live classes and completing on-demand lessons, you will be able to delve into Japanese language, culture and contemporary social issues, and earn credits upon successful course completion, wherever you are in the world.

Provider: Hebrew University of Jerusalem
About: This course introduces students to the Israeli legal system, while focusing on current issues at the core of the Israeli legal debate. Program: Soochow University International Programs - 2021 Summer Session
Provider: Soochow University 
About: Soochow University International Programs offers intensive three week programs at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels in economics, management, and more. Through taking two fully accredited courses, you can truly capitalize on your summer vacation time by learning virtually whilst also gainging a cultural immersion experience while also stay on track for your graduation.

Program: The Cultural Heritage of Europe - Online Winter School
Provider: University of Pécs
About: Thisonline program provides you with a detailed understanding of the politics, economics and societies of Europe. Students can learn together for two weeks and broaden their professional views by integrating European aspects. During the program they will develop an in-depth understanding of the major interests, institutions and ideas that shape the politics, economics and societies of Europe. Students can study Europe from a variety of perspectives in our interdisciplinary program which is composed of various classes related to European economics, politics, culture, history and social concepts. It examines several compelling and unique topics including political and economic transitions, the current role of the European Union, migration and security in the region.

Semester opportunities

Semester internship opportunities with funding

  • Gain work experience in the field of your choice through a 12-week international virtual internship, offered through three of UOW’s Third Party Partners.
  • All of these programs are FULLY FUNDED* through Australian Government funding, so your internship placement (normally costing between $1500 and $5000) is completely FREE*!
  • Internships can be part time, meaning you can complete while also studying. Academic credit may also be available for these internships, please consult with your UOW faculty for further information. Please note you must be receiving academic credit for your program in order to receive an NCP grant.

CRCC Asia Virtual Internship Program: Complete a 12 –week virtual internship in the field of your choice at an international company in Asia. Placements are available in the following countries: China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Republic of (South Korea), Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam

In addition to the internship, the virtual internship program includes weekly Google hangouts discussions, bi-weekly business webinars, an internship coach, and access to language courses and the CareerBridge internship curriculum modules.

We have several grants available to cover the cost of this program, offered through the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan.

Dates: Internships begin every two weeks on a rolling basis. Students should apply at least 8 weeks prior to planned commencement of the internship.

CISaustralia Virtual Internship Program in China, Hong Kong, Japan, USA, or South Africa:

Complete a 12-week virtual internship in the field of your choice at a company in China, Hong Kong, Japan, the USA, or South Africa. There are grants available for internships in China, Japan or Hong Kong through the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan , to cover the cost of the placement.

In addition to the internship, also included in the programs are cultural workshops, weekly newsletters, a preparation guide and session, an orientation, and a final supervisor evaluation.

Dates: Rolling. Students must apply 4-8 weeks prior to planned commencement of internship.

Grants available: We have 46 grants available for this program through the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan program.

HEX Global Internship Program in the USA, UK, Europe, Africa, or South America with ‘HEXtras’: Complete 1 week full time of the incredible HEX Discovery training, and then complete an 11 week internship in the field of your choice. Placements are available in the following countries: Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom, USA

Dates: 22 Feb-14 May
Deadline to apply: 15 Jan 2021
Grants available: We have 12 grants valued at $5000 with ‘HEXtras’ available for this program through the Australian Governments Endeavour Leadership Program. In addition to the discovery training and internship, students receiving a ‘HEXtras’ grant will also receive:

In addition to the internship, also included in the programs are cultural workshops, weekly newsletters, a preparation guide and session, an orientation, and a final supervisor evaluation.

Dates: Rolling. Students must apply 4-8 weeks prior to planned commencement of internship. Students planning to study in the USA or South Africa must begin their internships no later than 30 April 2021.
