Goodwill Hunting

Set up your new home the FREE and sustainable way

Are you moving out of home for the first time? We know this can be expensive, so each year, UOW staff and the community donate loads of household items for you to take for FREE! Join this much-loved event for UOW domestic and international students, where you can grab yourself some kitchenware, linen, blankets, glassware and more…

Goodwill Hunting has become a must-do at UOW, as you set up your home and navigate your way into the start of another academic year. UOW staff and community members have made the transition for students into their own place easier since the event began 10 years ago.

Goodwill in action

We were unable to hold the event in 2021, so here's a taste of what transpired during Goodwill Hunting in 2020.

Goodwill Hunting. Preloved. Recycled. Free.

UOW's Goodwill Hunting initiative provides students with free household items that have been geerously donated by UOW staff and the wider community.

Now in it's 9th year, Goodwill Hunting has grown from 80 students to well over 1,000 students in 2020.

For three months, a small, very dedicated group of wonderful volunteers sort, wash, repair, re-purpose and package donated items. Our volunteers range in age from 18 years to early 80s.

'Goodwill' Volunteers needed

To assist with this important event, volunteers are needed to help with the sorting, cleaning and packing of items ready for transport. Any amount of time that you can help us with would be greatly appreciated. To find out more please call Kay on:
