Who is this course for?
This course is designed for health care workers with an interest in mental health nursing.
This may include enrolled nurses who have a tertiary qualification (e.g. Diploma) and relevant work experience, registered nurses looking to upgrade their qualifications, or any professional health workers (e.g. emergency departments) will find this content relevant.
Entry requirements
A recognised bachelors degree in nursing, or a qualification to practise as a Registered Nurse or equivalent
OR
A recognised tertiary qualification in nursing, and relevant work experience in the health sector.
The Graduate Certificate of Mental Health Nursing is taught over one year, on a part-time basis.
Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing
The Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing requires the successful completion of 24 credit points. This is made up of three core subjects, and a choice of elective subjects.

- Psychoactive substance and mental health
Students choose one elective from below:
- Emotional intelligence for leaders
- Health, law and ethics
- Digital innovations in health
This course is only offered part-time and is offered 100% online.

The above tuition fees are the amount payable for a Commonwealth Supported place.
Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are University places where, for eligible domestic students, tuition fees are made up of two parts:
- an Australian Government contribution (for some courses, up to three-quarters of the tuition fee is funded by the Australian Government)
- a student contribution (listed above, which may be deferred and repaid later via a HECS-HELP loan)
To be eligible for this fee subsidy, you must meet the following criteria: Be a domestic student, i.e. an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or a permanent Australian Humanitarian visa holder.
