CISaustralia is an Australian-based organisation, who have provided overseas and Australian placement services to 5,000+ students since 2013. This professional internship program will be offered to students from Business, Law, Engineering & IT and will be offered in the Shanghai metro area, where CISaustralia will work with students to match them with local host companies.

Places are limited as follows:

  • 20 Business and Law enrolments
  • 10 Engineering & IT enrolments

Apply now to secure your professional internship placement. Should we have more applicants than places, there will be a waiting list. Students will be accepted and approved on a first come, first served basis.

It is expected that this program will be competitive, therefore we ask only serious and committed students to apply. Chinese host companies will only support serious and committed students in securing a professional internship. If students commit to this program, and then drop out, it means that another student has missed their chance as places are limited. There is a $95 application fee for students which is paid directly to CISaustralia on application and is non-refundable.

The internships will be across a range of organisations - larger, medium and small sized companies. We ask that students who apply for this program have an open mind about the experience. The CISaustralia team will work with you to find a suitable internship but cannot guarantee a large, or “big name” company. This program also includes professional-focused events run in Shanghai, aimed at Chinese students who have been studying remotely for an Australian degree.

While each internship is unique, here are some examples of tasks that may apply in your professional placement:

  • Business Development – Help the company to make decisions based on data, research and analysis. Develop methods to increase the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
  • Research Projects – Carry out research projects within the industry of the company, identifying key players and searching for new opportunities.
  • Operations – Understand the daily tasks of a company and focus on improving the processes in place to maximise efficiency.
  • Administration – Create spreadsheets, prepare presentations, arrange meetings and manage databases.
  • Content Creation – Improve your communication skills while updating websites, blogging, writing articles, or working on visual content through photography, photo editing, videography, graphic design, etc.
  • Social Media – Create Social Media calendars, edit and post content on different platforms, engage the community and find new leads and influencers.
  • Competitor Analysis – Research competitors from the industry or in other regions to determine if your company is performing at the level of the competition, staying on the cutting edge of new product development, and determine the competition’s capabilities and positioning.
  • Company Meetings: Attend and observe company meetings.

Here are some highlights of what an internship in China will give you:

  • An awesome resume – hands-on industry related work experience
  • Placement in a wide variety of careers and industries in Shanghai
  • CISaustralia will provide on-site support during your internship in China, plus a comprehensive orientation before you start
  • Develop your skills working with a cross-cultural team from China and around the world.
  • Gain professional, practical experience in a placement in your chosen field to meet your academic and professional goals.
  • Internship placements are customised, diverse and cater for a range of interests.
  • Have ongoing support from a dedicated supervisor.

Enhance and develop your communication skills, as well as time management, problem solving and creative skills.

Students will apply to UOW in the first instance through the expression of interest as detailed below and then, if successful in the first round, will be invited to register with CISaustralia.  Students will then register with CISaustralia and pay the non-refundable application fee ($95 AUD). Local advisors in China will then work with students to source and match internships. Students will need to be actively involved in this process, working on resume and interview skills. This program is aimed at students already living in the Shanghai area. Students from outside of Shanghai are able to apply and attend the program, however, they will need to cover their own transport and accommodation related costs for the program.
