Peer Help

Operating within the UOW Learning Co-Op, Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) and Library Rovers are senior UOW students who can provide immediate consultations and assistance on a range of enquiries.

Talking to your peers is a great way to help you navigate university, overcome key challenges and enhance your study skills. All PAC and Library Rover consultations are free, informal and no bookings are required.

Peer Academic Coaches (PACs)

PACs are available to assist you with a range of general academic enquiries through a coaching consultation. A coaching consultation is a collaborative discussion between you and the PAC, to enhance your skill level, provide motivation and equip you to find solutions to academic challenges. A PAC can share their own experiences as a student, highlight useful resources and refer you to other helpful academic services.

Common discussions include:

  • How to use Moodle or SOLs
  • Academic writing including; the process involved in interpreting a question, planning and starting an essay, grammar and editing techniques
  • Techniques to help you understand challenging content
  • Understanding Turnitin, referencing and academic integrity
  • How to effectively study for an exam and time management techniques
  • General questions about being a student at university and how to develop the necessary skills to succeed at university

 Library Rover

The Library Rover is a Library-trained student assistant who can assist you with your research enquiries.

The Rover can help you:

  • Identify resources for your assignments
  • Create effective search strategies
  • Navigate the Library website and catalogue
  • Use e-resources and databases
  • Solved basic IT and printing issues
  • Understand copyright, referencing and academic integrity
