Citation delivered on the occasion of the admission of Randall Dean Cupp as a Fellow of the University of Wollongong on 6 September 2022.

Vice-Chancellor and President, I present Randall Cupp.

Through his illustrious professional career and dedication to serving his community and alma mater, Randall Cupp has made a significant and enduring contribution to the University of Wollongong and beyond.

Randall completed his undergraduate studies at Truman State University in the United States, where he honed his academic skills and sense of civic duty. Seeking to enrich his post-graduate experience, he relocated to Australia for 2 years in 1983 to pursue a Master of Commerce, beginning a long and fruitful relationship with our institution that continues to this day.

Within two years of graduating with honours, Randall was appointed Commercial Banking Relationship Manager and subsequently Vice President with US Bank. Here, he enjoyed a stellar career spanning more than three decades, rising to the rank of Market President for the Colorado region before his retirement in 2021, his reputation for outstanding business acumen and leadership assured.

The University of Wollongong’s standing as a leading global university has benefited greatly from Randall’s professional success and influence. As a founding member and Trustee of the UOW USA Foundation since 2013, he has worked tirelessly to advance our institution on the world stage and support the growth of a strong and connected UOW alumni community in North America. He is among our most engaged and active alumni in the region, investing extraordinary time, energy and expertise and supporting the full spectrum of our activities.

Randall also contributes substantially to his local community as an active member of management committees across education, the arts, economic development and social support. He has dedicated his time and counsel to LGBT+ youth, including advocating for the homeless among them. In a life marked by meaningful service, Randall exudes the values and purpose we celebrate.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Randall Cupp is an outstanding global citizen and a generous friend to the University, committed to advancing our reputation and community for generations to come.

It is with sincere pleasure that I present Randall Cupp to be admitted as a Fellow of the University of Wollongong.
