How is this program run?

This program is running both face-to-face and online.


What will I do?

As an ITAP tutor, you would be required to assist Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to participate and achieve at their highest individual capability. You will focus on strengthening your student's academic skills and assisting the student in understanding the key concepts and methodologies related to the subject.

How do I apply?

To apply, please complete the ITAP Tutor Application form and attach your resume, copy of your academic transcript and any other supporting documentation. Your application will be reviewed by the ITAP Coordinator. If short-listed, you will be contacted for a short interview. If successful, you will be placed on the ITAP Tutor database and contacted directly if Woolyungah Indigenous Centre are able to match you with a student.  


Are there any special requirements for this role?

Yes, you must be at least two academic years ahead of the student you would be tutoring. You must also:

  • Maintain a high credit average in their studies
  • Have strong communication skills. E.g.: build rapport, communicate clearly
  • Have strong organisational and time management skills
  • Have a willingness to assist Indigenous students to reach success  

Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

To receive UOWx recognition, you must complete the following:

  • An "engaged" student will need to complete 20 hours in a calendar year
  • A 'highly engaged' student will need to complete 60 hours in a calendar year
