NCP Mobility and Semester Opportunities

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an Australian Government initiative that supports Australian undergraduate university students in undertaking immersive learning and internship experiences in the Indo-Pacific. The NCP Mobility and Semester Programs allow universities to apply for student travel grants for credit-bearing experiences of varying lengths, which may include structured learning, internships, practicums, language training, and/or research. Mobility

This four-week short course at Xidian University, China, will equip participants with knowledge and competencies in AI, Cybersecurity, Big Data Technology, and Trust Management. Alongside classroom learning, you’ll undertake industry visits to connect theory and real-world applications. You’ll also participate in Chinese language classes, workshops on traditional arts and crafts, and cultural excursions.

Launch into Central China Normal University’s ‘Computational Intelligence and its Applications in Education’ program. Design and develop creative educational AI solutions, while also immersing yourself in Mandarin language learning, cultural activities, and action-packed adventures!

Complete two Law electives at the University of the South Pacific (USP) in Vanuatu. You’ll study alongside USP students and gain an understanding of the importance of Marine Resources Law and Law and Emerging Technologies to policymakers in the Pacific, while also collaborating in relation to shared regional challenges.

This is a five-week program hosted by the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema (HATC). Participating students will either work towards performing a traditional Vietnamese play or follow the production process to create a ‘making of’ documentary. The program also involves Vietnamese language lessons.

Program Dates: 31 October – 5 December 2026 (tentative). Please note that program dates overlap with the Spring 2026 exam period, and students will be responsible for managing their own final assessments for Spring accordingly.

Engineering students can participate in this four-week study tour program to observe and learn about renewable energy technology development and the market in China. The program will involve academic sessions with Beijing Jiaotong University, Taiyuan University of Technology, and Tiangong University, as well as laboratory tours, language classes, and activities with local students.

This program provides an opportunity for students across Education, Social Work, International Studies, Public Health, Psychology, Arts, and Communications and Media to participate in a cultural immersion internship experience in Nepal. The in-country experience will also involve visits to Non-Government projects, language learning, cultural orientation sessions, and excursions to sites of cultural interest.

Semester

Funding Details: NCP grants of $10,000 available for eligible students completing a semester exchange at Senshu University in Spring Session 2026.
Study Area Restrictions: Exchange students studying at Senshu University are required to complete either the ‘Business, Culture, History and Language Program’ or the ‘Japanese Language and Culture Program’. As such, it is most suited to students studying within the Faculty of Arts, Society and Business who have general elective spaces remaining in their degree.
