RESEARCH MERIT AND INTEGRITY
This module is designed to provide an explanation and develop an understanding of research merit and integrity. This is one of the four values of human research ethics on which that are expressed in National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and inform its structure.
It comprises three parts.
Part A is a narrative account of the substance of the principle and includes a short multiple choice self-assessment quiz on its content, with feedback on whether you have answered the questions correctly or not.
Part B is a simple case study that offers you an opportunity to identify the ethical questions that arise from that case study and are related to the principle being examined in the module. The ethical questions that experienced researchers and reviewers might ask are then provided. It includes a short multiple choice self-assessment quiz on this exercise, with feedback on whether you have answered the questions correctly or not.
Part C uses some of those questions and asks you to link answers to them to relevant guidelines in the National Statement. It also contains a short self-assessment quiz on your knowledge of how the principle is reflected n the National Statement.
You can begin either at Part A or B, depending on whether you prefer an overview (Part A) or a case-study approach (Part B). However in order to complete Module 6: Assessment, you will need to complete all Parts of this Module.
