Fluorescence Analysis Facility

The Fluorescence Analysis Facility offers high-end instrumentation in both Microscopy, Flow Cytometry and Mass Photometry. Our team of technical experts specialise in support for cell and particle analysis across a broad range of both biological and environmental applications.

With 11 high-end Microscopes, 6 multi-parameter Flow Cytometers (including one Cell Sorter) and Mass Photometry our facility enables research throughout the University of Wollongong and broader Illawarra region.

The facility is managed by two specialist staff who are available for instrument training, experimental development, application and technical support.

We are located in the Molecular Horizons building 42 on level 2 in rooms 42.236, 42.237 and 42.238

Three dimensional co-culture of lymph node-derived fibroblasts

1st prize 2021. MicroWorld in Motion – Benjamin Genenger. 3D co-culture of lymph node-derived fibroblasts and the patient-derived skin cancer cell line, UW-CSCC2.

Three dimensional co-culture of lymph node-derived fibroblasts and the patient-derived skin cancer cell line, UW-CSCC2. The cells were stained with the nuclear stain Reddot2 (blue), ActinRed (yellow). The epithelial marker cytokeratin (magenta) allows to distinguish the cell populations. Images were taken on a Leica DMI8 using a 20x objective and post-processed using Leica's Thunder computational clearing. The spheroid diameter is between 130- 150 µm.
