Information about the program

Program overview

The program runs after-school for five weeks during Term 1 for our Wollongong, Liverpool, Shoalhaven, Sutherland and Oran Park locations, as well as our online program.

The Bega Valley and Eurobodalla program will commence in Term 2.

Students attend weekly 90-minute sessions online or at their local UOW or CUC campus. In these sessions, student will learn about pathways to university, connect with peers, and hone their skills ready for Early Admission. Students who complete the program and apply for UOW Early Admission will be flagged with UOW Admissions.

Skills development

Up to nine hours of skills development under the guidance of mentors who are current UOW staff and students with wonderful experience in navigating the HSC/IB, university life and post-school decision-making.

Students who complete the Future Me Program, accept their offer and enrol at UOW will be flagged for a paid casual position.

Assistance completing your Early Admission applications and UAC online applications.

Post-high school options

Mentoring to explore post-high school options, including higher education and pathways options, based on your Year 12 academic performance.

Accommodation options

Accommodation priority is given to students who have completed the program, as well as assistance understanding UOW Accommodation options, living out-of-home considerations and opportunities and financial considerations when becoming a university student.

Who can apply

We invite current Year 12 students attending an Australian High School to apply. Students must be completing the HSC, IB, Big Picture Learning Credential or an interstate equivalent.

Please note that some delivery locations and sessions will have limited capacity, so student applications that meet any of the following criteria will be prioritised:

  • Completing the HSC in a rural or remote area
  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • On a permanent humanitarian visa or have refugee status
  • Currently experiencing financial hardship, disability/mental or physical health condition or social disadvantage that have impacted your studies

Cost

The Year 12 Future Me Program is free for all participating students offered a place in the program.

The Future Me Program taught me a lot of lessons and useful information about attending uni in general, and specifically how to apply for Early Admission at UOW. No one in my whole family has ever been to uni, so this program really helped me gain knowledge and a feel for what maybe uni would be like! 2024 Future Me Program participant
