Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students

Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students

About the Literacy and Numeracy Test

All initial teacher education (ITE) students enrolled in accredited courses must pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) before commencing their final professional experience. This requirement is mandated by the NSW Government to ensure that future teachers have the essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for effective teaching.

When to take the Test

Starting in 2024, students required to sit the LANTITE must attempt the test during the first year of their accredited ITE course. Meeting the test standard is not mandatory at this stage, but an attempt is required. This early attempt helps identify students needing additional support and ensures sufficient time to prepare before final professional experience.

For further information, please visit the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership Limited (AITSL) website.

Bachelor of Mathematics Education Spring Session,1st year
