EdStart Scholarships and Grants

1. What is EdStart?

EdStart provides UOW equity scholarships and grants for undergraduate students at UOW up to the value of $5000. These scholarships and grants are awarded to students who can demonstrate financial need. UOW makes offers to applicants demonstrating the greatest level of need in a competitive application process. When awarding EdStart, UOW gives preference to applicants who demonstrate financial hardship plus other educational disadvantages.

3. How are EdStart applications assessed?

EdStart is a competitive application process, applicants are assessed on the basis of financial need and other disadvantages. Meeting EdStart eligibility criteria doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be awarded a scholarship or grant. There are limited scholarships and grants and there are usually more applicants than available funding. As part of a competitive application process, you are ranked against the eligibility criteria, and UOW awards EdStart to applicants who best meet the eligibility criteria.

If you are unsuccessful it doesn’t mean that you’re not in need; rather, it means that there are other applicants who’ve been assessed as being in greater need.
