The Allsorts Queer Collective
The Allsorts Queer Collective is a social and support group run by queer people for queer people. Allsorts strives to provide a safe and comfortable space for LGBTQI+ students (and staff) at UOW by hosting events, providing support and resources, and overall increasing the queer presence on campus.
Queer Space
The Allsorts’ crown jewel is our Queer Space in Building 11 room 209 on Wollongong campus, located in the Student Alliance Network (ST.A.N), accessible by the elevator across from the unishop on level 2. The Queer Space is a designated Safe Space for queer and questioning members of UOW - where you can meet new friends, access resources, study, or get away from the business of campus with a board game session. Allies are welcome but please knock and let a member welcome you in.

In the Queer Space, the Allsorts Queer Collective has a large selection of queer literature, board games, sexual health and menstruation products, informational resources and of course, the wonderful people who fill the room.
Regular events
In addition to the Queer Space, Allsorts runs regular events. We have weekly meetings to discuss what’s happening personally, with UOW, and with the broader Illawarra queer community. We host games nights, movie nights, picnics, BBQ’s, parties and more.

Current projects
Allsorts Queer Collective has received SSAF funding to refurbish some spaces in buildings 11 and 19. Following the relocation of the Queer Space in 2024 to building 11, the historical space in 19.G039 will be transformed into an Allsorts Support Space. Allsorts will work with UOW Support and Wellbeing to activate this space to support queer students. Allsorts Queer Collective is heading a campus improvement project to continue the work commenced in 2023 for the public areas of the Student Association Network in Building 11 Level 2 Wollongong. The corridor thoroughfare space and All Gender Bathroom will be enhanced to create a better, welcoming environment for all students and visitors.
UOW Allsorts Queer Collective sits on the land of the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal nation. We pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging. This land always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
