Meet Michael

I studied: Bachelor of Arts and Master of Teaching (Primary)
Advice for regional students: Just have a go! The quality of education is high, the tutors are all knowledgeable, and sometimes there are snacks! I feel that it is a learning environment that has high expectations, but the supports in place to help you reach them.
Campus life: It was an environment where everyone was comfortable and supported - a place where you wanted to do your best.

Sharyn McDonogh

Meet Sharyn

I am studying: Master of Indigenous Health
Inspirational achievements: I was the first Indigenous woman to graduate with Honours from the UOW Eurobodalla campus and the first in my family to graduate from university.
Advice for students: If you’re not sure or lack confidence, then start slow...The most important thing is to always ask someone if you are not sure. No question is too silly and most of the time you’re not the only one who is confused.

Study nursing at UOW

Growing up in a rural town myself and being in New South Wales, I was quite interested in regional health. By studying at Wollongong University, I've been able to do a four week placement in Broken Hill and see some of the differences in health care out there. I've also been able to go out to Alice Springs and see different healthcare centres and hospitals there and that's really opened my eyes to all the different things that I can do in rural health.
