IFIS End of Year Dinner and Bushdance

At the IFIS End of Year Dinner we come together to celebrate the come, thank those who have supported us and say farewell to all that will be leaving us to pursue new adventures. 

Join us for dinner, live music, dancing and friendship.

Play it Safe: Water Safety at Australia's Beaches and Pools

Having water and beach safety knowledge is so important during summer. Come along on this half day trip to one of NSW's most beautiful beaches. 

Staff and volunteers from Surf Life Saving NSW will teach water safety essentials on the beach and in the pool. 

When: Friday 1 December 2017

Time: 9:15am - 3pm

Where: Port Kembla Beach. Pick up and return the the UOW Main Campus by bus.

IFIS Kids Xmas Party

The Illawarra Friends of International Students (IFIS) invites all families to the 2017 Kids Xmas Party.

There will be craft tables, music, games, lunch and of course... a special visit from Santa. 

When: Sunday 17 December, 11am – 2pm

Where: Bld 11, Level 1 (The St. George Hub)

Cost: Free! Please bring a present for each of your children (up to the value of $10) for Santa to hand out.

IFIS Welcome BBQ

 The Illawarra Friends of International Students (IFIS) invite you to a traditional Aussie BBQ.

Meet people from the community, make new friends, play some games and enjoy the food!

After lunch we will head down to the beach to meet the Life Guards who will give you some tips about staying safe at Australia's beaches.

Finish the day with some beach soccer or volleyball at Wollongong's famous North Beach. 

Bring your friends and the whole family along! Everyone is welcome :)

When: Saturday 24 February | 11am – 4pm

Where: Stuart Park & North Wollongong Beach, North Wollongong, 2500

To get to Stuart Park, jump on the free 'Gong Shuttle' to the Novotel and walk north along Stuart Park towards the 'Lagoon Restaurant' and the playground. Look out for the large ISP and IFIS flags.

Moving between cultures can be a roller coaster of emotions.

Find out a few things about Australia and Australians, and learn some strategies to settle in and succeed. We will event treat you to a free lunch!

Join us for an informal 'Cuppa' to meet other mature age students who are juggling similar challenges. 

Representatives from UOW Support Services will be at this event to help you get acquainted with the services available to you as a UOW student.

Coffee, tea, juices and a light meal are provided. Feel free to bring your children and partner along with you.

We are looking forward to meeting you!

Day Trip: Dolphin Watching at Jervis Bay

Make the most of summer and come with us to Jervis Bay! 

Jervis Bay is famous for its natural beauty and its playful dolphins that roam the bay.

Jump on board the 'Dolphin Wild Cruises' vessel and search the bay for pods of dolphins, seals and sea birds. You will also cruise past many of Jervis Bays's beautiful white sand beaches. 

On our way to the ‘Bay’ we will stop in the rural town of Berry, which is full of cafés and little craft and gift shops. 

When: Saturday 10 March 

Departure: 9am, UOW Main Campus (Northfields Ave bus stop)

Return: 5pm (approx.)
