Opal card and travel

Transport NSW offers concession rates for transport in NSW to eligible students, which will allow you to catch public transport like trains, buses and light rails at a lesser cost than the regular Opal fares.

To be eligible for a concessional card you need to:

1. Be enrolled in a full-time study load in an On-Campus course; or
2. Be attending at least 16 hours per week of classes on campus for a continuous period of at least six weeks; and
3. Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
4. Have a NSW home address

International students are only eligible if they meet the above criteria and receive an approved Australian Government Scholarship that is fully-funded Australian Government.
