Primary Care Research and Education Network (PCREN)

Formerly known as the General Practice Research and Education Network (GPREN), the Primary Care Research and Education Network (PCREN) marks a renewed and expanded focus on advancing research and education within primary care settings.

PCREN builds on the strong foundation established by GPREN, continuing to support medical student education and foster practice-based research across the primary care landscape. The network’s evolution reflects a broader commitment to strengthening connections between clinical practice, medical education, and research innovation.

Key PCREN initiatives include:

  • Regular newsletters and network updates to keep members informed and engaged
  • An exclusive online member space for news, collaboration, resource sharing, education, training, and peer discussion
  • Access to professional development opportunities, including medical education events and resources
  • Support for collaboration on practice-based research projects
  • A vibrant, inclusive community that fosters lifelong learning and facilitates the sharing of knowledge across disciplines

PCREN aims to strengthen research and medical education in primary care by fostering a vibrant, collaborative community supported by the General Practice Academic Unit (GPAU) within the University of Wollongong’s Graduate School of Medicine.

Bringing together a diverse network of General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Practice Managers, Pharmacists, and Allied Health Professionals, PCREN provides a platform for research development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional growth in medical education.

There’s no cost to join PCREN. Members are welcome to engage with the network and its initiatives in a way that suits their interests, availability, and capacity.
