Hub Chief Investigator Distinguished Professor Irene Yarovsky named as one of ATSE New Fellows of 2021

On 26th November, twenty-seven top innovators were honoured by the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE).

Distinguished Professor Irene Yarovsky was honoured for being a world leading researcher who has made outstanding contributions to materials science and engineering.

Irene is a Chief Investigator and Program Leader for the ARC Research Hub for Australian Steel Innovation, where academia and industry work towards an integrated, value chain-wide approach to innovation across numerous projects, including environmental sustainability of iron and steelmaking and coated steel products.

She leads an RMIT research group undertaking materials modelling and simulation with the aim to develop fundamental relationships between the atomic structure and properties of molecules and materials. The group has a strong application focus, ranging from industrial materials to biomaterials and novel nanomaterials.

Irene is also a Visiting Professor at Imperial College London where she collaborates with world-leading experts to create innovative materials for biosensing, regenerative medicine and therapeutics.

Congratulations to Irene on this outstanding achievement - we anticipate hearing many more success stories in the future.
