UOW to celebrate National Science Week with Ask Dr Karl online event
Popular scientist to answer audience’s best questions
Do you have a curly question about the universe? A science topic that has always intrigued or perplexed you? Or has your child asked you one of those curious questions to which you are just not sure of the answer?
As part of Inspiring Australia’s National Science Week, UOW’s Science Space is pleased to feature a special Q+A with Dr Karl Kruszelnicki AM from the University of Sydney. Dr Karl AM will be online answering all your questions on Monday, 16 August, from 6pm.
One of the nation’s most renowned scientists, Dr Karl has devoted much of his career to making science most accessible to the public. He regularly answers science questions for audiences on the ABC and BBC, and has published extensively on topics such as the Universe, Space, climate change, animals, and the body.
The free Science Space Q+A will enable online audiences to pose their own questions to Dr Karl.
The event will be hosted by Science Space’s Dr Joh, who will put the audience’s questions to Dr Karl during the 90-minute live webinar. The Q+A will start with a Science Space show, to get the ball rolling.
Stuart Creal, Director of UOW’s Science Space, said the event is aimed at all ages and will give the audience an opportunity to ask their questions of one of Australia’s best scientific minds.
“Dr Karl is, as he says, an answer waiting for a question. This is such a great opportunity to connect with this brilliant scientist and ask your own question of Dr Karl,” he said.
“Encourage your child to think of their best science question to put to Dr Karl, or think about any topic that might spark your own curiosity, but you’ve just never had the chance to ask.”
Dr Karl holds degrees in physics, mathematics, biomedical engineering, medicine and surgery, and is the author of more than 45 books. His favourite five questions on the night will receive a signed copy of a Dr Karl book.
