The University of Wollongong recognises that individuals from diverse backgrounds may face unique challenges that affect their educational journey. Through the establishment of Equity Fellowships, UOW aims to promote diversity, inclusion and equitable opportunities within its academic community.
Equity Fellowships aim to:
- Assist academic staff with the completion of their PhD program where completion is potentially delayed or at risk because of equity-related circumstances.
- Assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academic staff seeking to complete a Masters program.
- Address the under-representation of equity and diversity groups, particularly at senior academic levels.
Fellowship Support
Each year, Equity Fellowships of up to $12,000 are awarded to support eligible academic staff undertaking a higher degree. Funding is intended to assist recipients to progress towards completion of their degree and may be used for approved expenses associated with their study and research.
Eligibility
Applications are open to eligible continuing and fixed-term academic staff. UOW recognises that equity-related barriers can arise from a range of circumstances and welcomes applications from staff whose higher degree completion has been impacted by these challenges.
