Overview

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) provides you with an opportunity to learn English language in context to prepare you for university study. The course will allow you to develop the foundations of English for higher level academic study.  

Students enrolled in the EAP program will develop and practice essential academic language skills, including writing explanations and argumentative essays, and using formal language for spoken presentations. Lessons are built around current and relevant topics to foster discussion and critical thinking. You will also be supported in developing independent learning strategies to prepare for higher-level academic study. 

Each module includes 20 hours of tuition per week. The program length ranges from 6 to 24 weeks, depending on your entry level.

    English for Academic Purposes has a minimum entry requirement of Overall IELTS of 5.0 Academic (5.0 in Reading and 5.0 Writing) or equivalent

    English Language package requirements

    UOW College English courses can be packaged with UOW Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees, UOW College Foundation Studies and/or Diploma courses. There are many advantages to packaged programs, including when a package includes English, no further external English test (such as IELTS) will be necessary before beginning your next course at UOW College or UOW.
