2023 Learning Platform Review and student survey

The Learning Platform Review is a project designed to undertake an analysis of the current suite of systems, the ways they are used, and to develop a future roadmap that will underpin UOW’s decisions regarding what the Learning Platform will look like into the future.

Why your input is important

The current UOW Learning Platform involves the use of an integrated ecosystem of different software products designed to deliver course content, assessment materials and a range of educational experiences across a broad range of courses and subjects.  These software products include, but are not limited to, Moodle, Echo360, Turnitin and a range of additional plugins and integrations with other systems.

An important part of this review is gather input and views from our students who use the system daily as part of their learning process.

As such, we are asking you to please share your input and feedback in the available survey, and encourage your fellow students to do the same.

Having an effective UOW Learning Platform is critical to our capacity to achieve the goals outlined in our 2020-2025 Education Strategy, and is essential to ensuring the best possible student experience for you and your fellow students into the future. Your responses to this survey will help us gather the information needed to achieve this goal.

Privacy statement

For more information, please see the University of Wollongong’s privacy details page and UOW Privacy frequently asked questions.

This Learning Platform Review Student Survey does not ask for any personally identifying information beyond the question asking students to identify if they are in their first semester of study at UOW or not. This will be important in analysing the data, especially where students may be unaware or have not yet used a tool or feature of the Learning Platform.

Where any free text responses include personally identifying information as entered by the participant, such information will be redacted or anonymised from any final report or analysis of the survey responses.

The survey is conducted using the Qualtrics system, commonly used for survey purposes at UOW and this system will also collect the participants IP number as part of the response which is typically done as a technical measure to prevent abuse of the system. This number can be used to identify the participants Internet Service Provider and can be used to infer general location of the ISP’s access point.  These IP numbers will not be published and any location data will only be used to quantify differing responses between offshore and onshore UOW campuses and students.

High level aggregate data and some anonymised samplings of free text responses may be published as part of the final Learning Platform Review Report. Only UOW staff with appropriate authorisation, and in accordance with UOW privacy policies, will have access to the raw data of the survey results.
