CMRP Physics Student wins Award from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine

Luis Munoz, a PhD student at the Centre of Medical Radiation Physics at the University of Wollongong, was recognised by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) with the Peter R. Almond Award of Excellence for an Outstanding Radiation Measurements at its annual meeting in Washington, DC in July.

Munoz and his co-authors were honoured for their 2021 paper entitled "Consistency of small-field dosimetry, on and off axis, in beammatched linacs used for stereotactic radiosurgery" published in the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics.

This is third year in a row that papers have been recognised as the best paper of the year in the scholarly journals published by the AAPM, Medical Physics and the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics (JACMP). This is strong professional recognition of the science and semiconductor 2D-dosimetry work that the CMRP group have developed for radiation therapy.
