Kunming University visit UOW

On 9th December 2019, Kunming University (KMU) visited UOW for the first time after a relationship between LHA and KMU was established earlier in the year. KMU is located in Kunming and was established in 2004. Similar to UOW, it was built on the foundation of the former Kunming Teacher’s College, and now offers an array of disciplines. KMU is approved as a comprehensive full-time University by the Ministry of Education of China.

KMU has spans many disciplines including; Fine Arts and Design, Economics, Science of Law, Pedagogy, Literature, History, Natural Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medical Science, and Management.

Delegates from KMU included Mr Hua Guo, Vice President, Mr Lei Shi, Director of Admissions and Employment Office, Ms Yan Yi, Human Resources Office, Ms Zhiyi Cuan, Dean, School of Fine Arts and Art Design, Mr Chunyang Zhao, International Coordinator, International Office. The delegation was joined by the Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts staff members, Dr Kate Bowles, Associate Dean International, A/Prof Brogan Bunt, Head of School, TAEM, Ms Joanna Stirling, Lecturer, ms Lily An, International manager and Ms Adelaide Haynes, International Officer.

In July 2019, the first cohort of students were recruited for the UOW/KMU program as planned. Ms Lily An visited the students ahead of a strong nurturing program to support staff and students involved.

Their visit coincided with the annual Graduate Exhibition ‘Osmosis,’ which showcased final year student’s work spanning visual arts, graphic design, media arts, textiles, sculpture and photography. The delegates were impressed by the quality of the showcase, and commended staff and students involved in delivering a fascinating exhibition.
