UOW appoints Professor Tony Travaglione as PVC Global Strategy

Professor Travaglione brings expertise in global partnerships and strategic engagements

The University of Wollongong (UOW) has announced Professor Tony Travaglione as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) for Global Strategy. Professor Travaglione's extensive experience and exceptional track record made him stand out as the ideal candidate during an exhaustive international search and interview process.

Professor Tony Travaglione joins us from the University of Newcastle, where he is currently the CEO and PVC of the Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education.

UOW Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Innovation, Enterprise and External Relations) Professor Alex Frino said Professor Travaglione would oversee and guide UOW’s internationalisation efforts and strategic global initiatives.

“Professor Travaglione’s expertise and dedication will play a pivotal role in further elevating our University's global standing and taking UOW’s excellence in education, research, and engagement to greater heights,” Professor Frino said.

“He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our institution. As PVC for Global Strategy, he will play a key role in shaping and advancing our internationalisation efforts and strategic initiatives on a global scale.

“I am confident that his leadership will pave the way for new and meaningful partnerships with international institutions and advance our University's global ambitions.”

Professor Travaglione will commence his role at UOW on 9 October 2023.
