This year, in addition to the ceremony, actors will read an original 2022 play, followed by Q&A with the author, Vic Alhadeff. The play is of interest beyond the Jewish community, especially to the Greek community. “Torn Apart by War” tells the remarkable story of his father’s survival of the 1944 liquidation of the Jews of Rhodes. It was performed at the ARA Darling Quarter Theatre and at the Randwick Ritz in Sydney in March and April 2022.
The commemoration will commence at 4:15 PM, Thursday, 27 April 2023, at the University of Wollongong Innovation Campus, in ANCORS building 233, room 112 (first floor).
