About: Mannheim is a multicultural city in the northern corner of the state of Baden-Württemberg and is about 70 km south of Frankfurt. With a population of 320,000, it has a city center small enough to be explored by foot, but also big enough to offer a vibrant urban life with lots of cafés, cinemas, cultural events and museums. The university campus has a very central location and is within walking distance of the city centre. Thanks to Mannheim’s central location and direct connection to Germany's extensive public transportation system, a variety of charming German towns are easily within reach. Even France and Switzerland are only a relatively short journey away!

The University of Mannheim regularly participates in the International Student Barometer, a survey conducted among the University's new international students. In 2011, of all 34 participating institutions in Germany, the University of Mannheim was ranked as follows: # 1 for campus buildings (# 2 worldwide), # 1 for multicultural study environment, # 2 for social activities.
