Why:

Cancer treatment practices, quality and availability vary across the country with rural and isolated communities having less access to treatments and poorer survival outcomes. We aim to provide additional support to isolated and low-resource communities through expanding treatment availability in rural regions of Australia and data sharing amongst the radiotherapy community, both within Australia and internationally.

We currently work with almost all Australian departments as well as radiotherapy centres from 22 countries including several developing countries. We have planned a multi-faceted approach to achieving this aim including remote auditing and comparison of treatment quality assurance practices, data sharing and comparison of treatment units and exploration of the feasibility of deploying mobile radiotherapy units to rural Australia. Cancer is a disease that affects us all either directly or indirectly through family and loved ones. Through working with the radiotherapy community as a whole, we hope to improve outcomes for all patients regardless of resources or location.
