Meet Puran Pradhan, Campus Service Officer at the Sydney CBD Campus

Puran Pradhan is a Campus Service Officer at UOW’s Sydney CBD campus. In this role, he has been supporting students for over a year by delivering high-quality customer service, assisting with academic and administrative enquiries, and contributing to the smooth daily operations of the campus. His focus is on ensuring students receive timely, accurate, and helpful support throughout their university journey.

Can you tell us about your role as a Campus Service Officer at the Sydney CBD campus?

We support students by responding to their enquiries and assisting them with a wide range of academic and administrative matters. I also help ensure the smooth running of daily campus operations and provide guidance to students whenever they require support.

What types of student enquiries do you deal with most often?

We most commonly deal with enrolment and fee-related enquiries. However, students also come to us with a variety of concerns depending on their circumstances and programs. These may include timetabling, subject selection, academic progress, and general administrative support.

What do you enjoy most about working with students at the Sydney Business School?

What I enjoy most is being able to help students find solutions to their concerns. It is very rewarding to support students, resolve issues, and contribute to making their university experience smoother and more positive. Knowing that I have made a difference in a student’s day is one of the most fulfilling parts of my role.

What challenges do you face when supporting both administrative work and student engagement?

One of the main challenges is balancing a high volume of administrative tasks while ensuring timely support for students. There are often multiple enquiries at the same time, so prioritising tasks, managing time effectively, and staying organised are essential. Another challenge is ensuring that students receive consistent and accurate information across different types of enquiries.

How do you support international students who are new to Australia and the university?

We support international students by providing clear guidance on enrolment processes, university systems, and campus services. We also connect students with support programs such as the Business International Peer Mentor Network (BIPMN), where they can engage with experienced student mentors who help them adjust to life in Australia and university study. In addition, we guide students toward academic skills workshops and other relevant support services when needed.

What activities or clubs are available on campus, and which would you recommend?

There are a range of activities and clubs available on campus, including sports clubs, cultural events, networking sessions, and social activities. I would recommend joining the Sport'a'holic Club, as it is a great way to stay active, meet new people, and build friendships. Participating in campus events also helps students feel more connected to the university community and enhances their overall student experience.

What advice would you give students to help them make the most of the support services available at the campus?

My advice is to reach out early whenever you have questions or face difficulties, rather than waiting for issues to become more complex. It is also helpful to familiarise yourself with the available support services, including student administration, academic support, and wellbeing services. Using these resources can significantly improve both academic success and the overall university experience.
