Meet BUPA on-campus consultant, Dolon Sharnali

Dolon, BUPA’s on-campus consultant, shares practical tips for students on accessing and managing their health insurance. She also highlights the additional services BUPA offers, including mental health support, digital GP consultations, and student-focused resources, helping students stay healthy and well while studying in Australia.

What services, events, and workshops do you offer to students?

Students can book one-on-one consultations for support with their Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) via the BUPA Consultation 2026
I am available every Wednesday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the UOW Sydney CBD campus for face-to-face appointments.
In addition:

  • Students can attend university-organised drop-in sessions for quick queries
  • Support is available via email at uow@bupa.com.au
  • We actively participate in Orientation Week, where students can visit our booth, ask questions, and learn more about their health cover

How should students prepare before attending a consultation?

To make the most of their session, students should:

  • Bring their Bupa membership card or student ID
  • Prepare any questions in advance

This helps ensure the consultation is efficient and all concerns are addressed.

How do you support students who are facing difficulties?

Support is tailored depending on the student’s situation:

  • For medical concerns, we recommend visiting a General Practitioner (GP)
  • For mental health and wellbeing, we guide students toward:
    • Professional counselling services
    • Free university counselling support services
Our goal is to ensure students are connected to the right support as early as possible.

What mental health and wellbeing services are available through Bupa?

Bupa provides access to a range of mental health services, including:

  • Psychologists
  • Counsellors

Importantly, no waiting period applies for mental health support, meaning students can access services immediately when needed.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy taking walks along the beach, exploring local farmers’ markets, and trying out new cafes around Sydney.
