UOW School of Business Students Explore Vietnam

Staff and students from UOW School of Business hosted by longstanding partner Foreign Trade University to gain academic, industry and community insights

10 students from the School of Business concluded a 14 day study tour to Vietnam led by Associate Professor Thanh Le and Associate Professor Amir Arjomandi in October 2023. This visit, hosted by Foreign Trade University, and supported by DFATs New Colombo Plan, allowed our students to participate in a diverse range of academic, professional and cultural experiences.

We had productive visits at the Australian High Commission, Austrade, PwC and some of Vietnam's largest factories, where we also discussed employment pathways, Vietnamese business culture and working practices, intercultural communication and the Vietnamese economy post-COVD. We strengthened relationships with FTU, enabling UOW and FTU students to interact as well as exploring further collaboration opportunities between our two institutions.

We were astounded by Vietnam's cultural riches, from the breath-taking Ha Long Bay to several wonderful historical sites deepening our understanding of Vietnamese traditions. And yes, we also fine-tuned our cooking skills with some local cooking classes!

Also, despite being away from home, we ensured our civic duties were fulfilled by participating in The Voice referendum vote at the Australian embassy!
