Dr Xue Feng Dong delivers a keynote address at the 3rd International Symposium on Computational Particle Technology
Dr. Xue Feng Dong, a Research Fellow in the Steel Research Hub (SRH), was invited to deliver a keynote address at the 3rd International Symposium on Computational Particle Technology, held on 17-21 November 2021 in Suzhou, China.
He presented an overview of recent research work dealing with the mesoscopic investigation of liquid droplets flow, undertaken through the collaborative project between ArcelorMittal, BlueScope and University of Wollongong. The research addresses a strategic issue faced by the global steel industry and raw materials suppliers. Namely, the selection of raw materials with properties that optimize the performance of each specific blast furnace (BF) in terms of productivity and overall operating cost.
The significant role of modelling at a mesoscopic level in understanding macroscopic liquid flow behaviour in complex processes was demonstrated and specifically emphasized in his address as well as through his team’s work.
The Symposium (https://www.monash.edu/simpascpthub-congress) was hosted by ARC Research Hub for Computational Particle Technology, led by Professor Aibing Yu, Pro Vice-Chancellor Monash University. It aimed to provide a forum to discuss the frontier and challenging problems in the modelling and simulation of complex particulate and multiphase processes, covering a wide spectrum from fundamental research to industrial application.
