UOW appoints Professor Ana Deletic as Provost
Engineer with proven record of growth and inclusion to lead UOW's academic agenda
The University of Wollongong (UOW) has appointed Professor Ana Deletic FTSE as Provost, commencing on 29 June, following a competitive international search.
Professor Deletic joins UOW from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where she serves as founding Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Under her leadership, student enrolments grew significantly, research income doubled, and student satisfaction rose above the national average while simultaneously increasing access for Indigenous, regional and low-SES students.
Before joining QUT, Professor Deletic served as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) at UNSW Sydney and held senior leadership roles at Monash University spanning more than a decade. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and a globally recognised research leader in sustainable water systems.
UOW Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Max Lu said the appointment was significant for the University.
“After a thorough international search, Ana stood out as an outstanding leader. She has a remarkable track record of lifting institutional performance while widening access and that combination speaks directly to the heart of UOW’s vision,” Professor Lu said.
“Her background in building high-performing academic culture, her commitment to people and her deep understanding of the challenges facing Australian universities make her the ideal leader for this role as we deliver our Vision 2035 and Strategic Plan 2030.”
Professor Deletic said she was drawn to UOW’s reputation and ambition.

I look forward to working with colleagues across the institution to build on those strengths and ensure that UOW continues to deliver education and research that change lives,” Professor Deletic said.
Professor Deletic will commence at UOW on 29 June.
